Virgin Media launches hot new summer deals

Switching your broadband or mobile phone provider may not be the first thing you think about when summer comes to mind, but with new offers from Virgin Media, you just might.

The telecommunications company has just announced a number of new promotions to launch the summer season, with something in there for just about everyone.

So if you’re on the lookout for great value, take a look at the new summer deals on offer below.

Sky Sports/Cinema summer deal

As part of its summer deals, Virgin Media is offering customers who sign up to any of its TV packages Sky Sports for half price for an entire year - not bad if you’re a fan of the F1 in particular.

If sport isn't really your thing, movie buffs will be pleased to know that you can choose Sky Cinema and watch a never-ending stream of great movies for half price instead!

This super-hot deal is available for new customers AND also existing customers who have a television package with Virgin Media.

The cost for either Sky Sports or Sky Cinema is just €20 per month for 12 months, half its usual price of €40.

So, if you’re looking to get access to some of the best racing, golf, football, F1 and cricket to entertain yourself this summer, now's the time! That or access to some of the latest films everyone is talking about through Sky Cinema.

Customers can only get Sky Sports or Sky Cinema at the discounted price however, and not both.

Also, Virgin Media no longer offers TV on its own, so it’s only possible to sign up to a service that includes broadband. Customers should also bear in mind that the provider has reintroduced its activation fees for triple-play bundles (that's broadband, TV & home phone) at a cost of €50, while the activation fee for broadband-only services remains unchanged at €30.

That being said, there’s still plenty of great value to be had.

SIM-only summer deal

Mobile customers haven’t been left out of this year’s summer sale as Virgin has also announced a new SIM-only offer.

New customers signing up for its Unlimited SIM-only plan can get, well, unlimited calls, texts and data for only €10 a month for the first 12 months - the cheapest mobile deal Virgin has had to date!

There are no joining fees so customers who sign up will only pay €120 for one whole year, meaning the offer is even better value than Virgin’s previous €5 for six months plan, which cost €180 over 12 months.

What’s more, the plan is on a rolling 30-day contract, as you would expect with a SIM-only deal, so you can opt-out whenever suits you.

As with most SIM-only deals, a fair usage policy applies to the so-called “unlimited” data, so any usage over 80GB will result in limited speeds. However the likelihood of the average user using more than this each month is unlikely, it has to be said.

The good news is that the new SIM-only offer is also available to existing Virgin Media broadband or TV customers, so you can double-up on value by availing of both offers if you’d like.

Virgin Media’s Unlimited SIM-only deal ends on July 8th.
