The cashback offers are a welcome incentive for consumers who are seeking value for money in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

With energy prices in the Republic continuing to rise, now is better than ever to reassess your current energy supplier, not to mention your energy plan, to see if you could get better value.

But despite the rising prices, competition is healthier than ever, with deals abounding left, right and centre, spelling out great value for those whose contract is up and who are prepared to switch.

Apropos of this, Electric Ireland is offering great cashback incentives for savvy switchers.

Read on for more details on what they are and how to sign up.

Who is Electric Ireland?

Electric Ireland, rebranded back in 2011, is the retail arm of ESB Group and supplies gas and electricity to business and residential markets in both the Republic of Ireland and in the North of Ireland.

The energy provider is one of 13 suppliers in the Republic of Ireland at present and is widely recognised as Ireland’s leading energy provider. It now provides a supply of renewable energy products to the Irish market, too!

What’s on offer?

Electric Ireland is now offering a whopping €250 cashback on its dual fuel gas and electricity plans. As well as the generous cashback, customers will also receive discounts of up to 8.5% on its standard electricity and gas tariffs.

If you don't want to go with a dual fuel plan, Electric Ireland is also offering €175 cashback on a selection of its electricity only plans, and €75 cashback on a selection of its gas tariffs.

Customers signing up must pay using direct debit - which is pretty much standard these days - or else pay a security deposit of €300.

Who’s eligible?

The available tariffs are on offer to new customers of Electric Ireland; existing Electric Ireland customers are also eligible but must be out of contract and signing up to a separate plan from the one they were previously on.

If you’re looking to switch, the tariffs are now available for sign-up on bonkers.ie and can be checked out here.

Get rewarded

If you're considering making the switch, Electric Ireland has some other attractive incentives for customers who sign up, including a great rewards scheme in collaboration with SuperValu.

Customers can help to make their money go further by converting SuperValu Real Rewards points into money off their energy bills. This can be done by linking your Real Rewards card number and your Electric Ireland account.

For every €3 spent on a gas and electricity bill customers will earn 1 Real Reward point, while also receiving an additional 250 welcome points when signing up as a new customer.

Customers can then use the points towards their energy bills and save more. 250 points will knock €5 off your bill while 500 points will knock off €10. That's an enticing offer for SuperValu shoppers!

Green deals

The above cashback tariffs are on offer alongside Electric Ireland's newly launched 100% Green Electricity Price Plan.

This renewable energy tariff is available for both residential and commercial customers and will be available for sign up from late January.

The new tariff will doubtless provide increased competition on green tariffs for climate-conscious customers.
