Seamless access to all your favourite entertainment services in one place? Sign us up! Sky Q and Netflix integration may have been a long time coming for many, but this new partnership is miles better than we expected.

Sick of having to flip between your Chromecast/Apple TV and your Sky Q box? Just want a solution where you can easily access your fave Sky and Netflix original content in one place? Perhaps more pertinently, would you like to say goodbye to multiple subscription bills and save money without having to compromise on any service?

Well, we’ve got some great news for you. In November, Netflix is coming to Sky Q and with it, a new Sky subscription pack: Ultimate On Demand.

Ultimate On Demand: Ireland’s newest and biggest on-demand TV service

Ultimate On Demand will be the UK and Ireland’s biggest on demand TV service, bringing together for the first time Sky Box Sets, which boasts 400 of the best UK and US series, and the full Netflix service with its great range of global entertainment.

This won’t be a case of Sky simply adding a separate Netflix station to its channel line-up, as Virgin Media has done. No, Ultimate On Demand will be a singular, seamless package where you’ll be able to access Sky original productions, US hits from the likes of HBO and Showtime, alongside Netflix’s original dramas, movies and documentaries.

This integration means it’ll be easier than ever to find exactly what you want to watch between the two providers, without having the mess of switching between systems/channels. Recommendations for Sky and Netflix will share the spotlight on Sky Q’s homepage and will be easily searchable using Sky Q’s remote.

How much will Ultimate On Demand cost?

Ultimate On Demand will cost €16 per month for all new and existing customers alongside a Sky Q subscription. Customers also needn’t worry about getting stuck in a long-term contract as the new subscription comes on a 31-day rolling contract, meaning that it’s both flexible and great value.

Existing Sky Q customers who also subscribe to Netflix will be able to easily move their account to the new pack or sign in to the Netflix app on Sky Q using their existing Netflix account details.

Is there any money to be saved with Ultimate On Demand?

The short answer; yes!

Currently, a standard subscription with Netflix costs €10.99 per month and to add Sky Box Sets with HD to a Sky package costs an extra €17 per month. So, subscribing to both separately would cost €27.99 per month, whereas when Ultimate On Demand launches in November, it’ll cost just €16 for Sky Box Sets and Netflix combined. That’s an annual saving of €144!

Payment for the Ultimate On Demand pack will be added to customers’ monthly Sky bills, removing the need for separate payments for multiple services.

What are the subscription details?

Customers with a standard Sky Q Entertainment subscription will get Netflix’s Standard plan (HD 2 streams) and Sky Box Sets in HD as part of Ultimate On Demand.

Customers with Sky Q’s premium subscription, Sky Q Multiscreen (multi-room viewing and Ultra HD), will get access to Netflix’s Premium plan (Ultra HD, 4 streams) - more than 2,000 hours of Ultra HD content across Sky and Netflix.

Titles available to download can be watched on the go, with Sky shows available through the Sky Go app and Netflix shows through the Netflix app.

What do I need to get access to Ultimate On Demand?

  • Firstly, you’ll need to be a Sky Q customer. Sky+ customers will need to upgrade to Sky Q to be able to access Netflix through their set top boxes.
  • If you want to access Ultra HD content, you’ll have to have a 2TB Sky Q box and a Sky Q Multiscreen subscription.

Any other relevant information about Ultimate On Demand that I need to know?

If you’re migrating an existing Netflix account over to UOD, you’ll keep your existing Netflix profiles and recommendations and continue to be able to watch Netflix on all your usual Netflix-supported devices. If you want to use your existing Netflix account via Sky Q, a Netflix app will be available on the Sky Q platform and Netflix members can sign in to watch using their existing accounts.

You can pre-register your interest in the Ultimate On Demand pack at sky.com/netflix.
