SSE to cut prices - RTÉ Radio 1

SSE Airtricity have followed the competition, and have decided to lower their prices for gas and electricity.
Daragh Cassidy, Head of Communications at bonkers.ie, appeared on the Claire Byrne Show to discuss the news, and what it could mean for consumers.
Listen to the interview above or look at the main points discussed below.
Main points from the interview:
- From the start of November, SSE Airtricity will lower the price of its electricity by 12%, and its gas prices by 10%.
- This follows price cuts by Electric Ireland, Pinergy and Energia.
- However, these price decreases are not large enough to offset the increases seen over the past couple of years, meaning that while the energy crisis is easing, it is certainly not over.
- Wholesale prices remain at elevated levels, reducing the possibility of household bills returning to normality in the near future.
