In November 2009, the first lines of code were written for the site that was to become bonkers.ie. Back then this website was still an idea and we didn’t even have a name (how we came up with bonkers.ie is a tale for another blog!).

It’s been quite a journey over the last three years. Lots more code has been written, we’ve grown and become better known, and the site has even been nominated for a few awards.

And speaking of awards, last night was a special night for the bonkers.ie crew. We were nominated in two categories at the annual Web Awards - a big bash at the Mansion House where all things web are celebrated.

It was a fantastic night. There was plenty of “dancing” as folks tried on their Gangnam Style. Rick O’Shea ran the show and when there was a draw for Best Technology Website between The Sociable and Silicon Republic, he had them settle it with a hoop-off – that’s a hula-hooping competition – where The Sociable’s skills with the hoop took the prize.

Amidst all the fun, the competition was still tough, and as always, some terrific websites picked up well deserved awards.

bonkers.ie was shortlisted in the Best Practice category and the Best Financial Services Website category and we’re delighted to say that we are now amongst the Web Award winners.

bonkers.ie picked up the award for Best Financial Services Website – and no hula-hoops were needed to hold on to it!

We couldn’t have done it without all the help we’ve received over the last three years. Thanks to everyone who’s worked with us, thanks for all the long hours it took to make it this far, and most importantly, thanks to all of you for using bonkers.ie.
