Energia has just launched new energy deals offering discounts of up to 26 per cent
If you’re looking to save on your energy bills in 2016 - and who isn’t? Now is a very good time to nab yourself a great money saving deal.
Why? Well, there have been a raft of price cuts announced recently, and since New Year's Day two major energy suppliers have launch new deals that offer some of the biggest discounts we’ve ever seen here at bonkers.ie. The latest offers are from Energia and they are available to compare and switch today.
The new Energia deals
Energia’s new electricity deal offers a discount of 26% and it’s the company’s biggest electricity discount since they launched nearly two years ago. To put that 26% discount into a little bit of perspective (ok… a quite a lot of perspective), when Bord Gáis Energy launched their Big Switch Campaign way back in 2009, they were offering a discount of 13% and signed up hundreds of thousands of customers. The electricity discount Energia just launched today is double that at 26%.
Energia has also come out with a dual fuel deal - that’s gas and electricity from the same supplier - which offers an electricity discount of 23% and a gas discount of 20%.

Energia’s new electricity only deal offers a 12 month unit rate discount of 26% and means that an average household will pay €967 for a year’s supply of electricity. Energia CHEEP392 Dual Fuel
Today’s dual fuel deal from Energia offers a 23% electricity discount and a 20% gas discount for 12 months and will cost an average household €1,795 per year for gas and electricity combined. That’s a saving €330 over standard rates and makes Energia’s new Dual Fuel offer the best dual fuel deal in the marketplace right now for an average household, and you can see all the details and sign up right here.
Price cuts and new deals
There’s a lot happening in the energy market right now. Energia’s new offers come hot on the heels of the SSE Airtricity’s exclusives which offer discounts of up to 25%. Flogas announced a 2.5% discount today which will take place on 1 February, Electric Ireland cut gas prices on 1 January and SSE Airtricity is cutting electricity prices on 11 January. And it’s all positive for customers!
Which would you rather though, a price cut or a discount? Well, If you were to wait for an electricity price cut, you may save a little over €20 in the next year, but if you sign up to the best electricity deal in the marketplace, you could save more than €200.
