Escape lengthy contracts with Virgin Media's Freedom bundles

If you’re a student or just sick of getting roped into long contracts, this one might be for you.

It’s nice to have options whether it’s for lunch, jobs, phones, or broadband and it’s often best to play the field to get the best deal.

However, most broadband bundles will lock you in with long contracts, either from a year to two years at a time.

However, Virgin Media is now offering two bundles that it thinks will give you back a bit of freedom when it comes to your broadband.

Freedom bundles

Right now, Virgin is offering two Freedom plans: Freedom 250 which comes with broadband and home phone and the Freedom 250 Bundle which also comes with TV. And both come on a short, 30-day contract.

Freedom 250
Broadband 250Mb Broadband
Home phone World Talk Home Phone
Cost per month €59
Activation fee €20
Contract length  30 Days
Available to New Virgin Media customers only

Freedom 250 Bundle
Broadband 250Mb Broadband

TV Freedom TV

Activation fee €50
Contract length  30 Days
Available to New Virgin Media customers only

Freedom TV

Freedom TV offers 21 channels with the option to add extras. They include RTE One and TWO. Virgin Media One, Two, and Three. TG4, BBC One and Two, Channel 4, E4, More 4 and Film 4, Comedy Central, MTV, Sky 1 and 2, Sky News, Sky Sports News HQ, Sky Living, Sky Arts, and Virgin Media Sport.

You can add the Sky Sports Package for €40 a month, Sky Cinema for €20 extra per month, or you can add both for €49 per month.

Is this for me?

It depends. While the bundles are not the best value you could possibly get, you are paying for the flexibility of a 30-day contract.

So if you don't have long left on your lease, if you are emigrating, or if you're unsure where you will be in a few months' time, the flexibility of the shorter contract might be better value than signing up for a longer one.
