It won't be long now before the autumn sets in and we have to start switching on the heating. Mind you, with the 'summer' we've just had, you've probably not switched it off.
In that case you'll be looking for bargains to cut down on costs for the expensive cold period ahead. There are two new players in the market now - Panda and Pinergy, which are both worth checking out - while Energia remains very strong on price. Bord Gais (BGE) has new enticements to switch gas and/or electricity ranging from discounts (7-I2pc) and Tesco vouchers ( €75) along with a free boiler service for new Dual Fuel customers.
Existing customers aren't being left out, with those re-signing for new contracts getting Tesco Clubcard points (1,000 - 4,000). There is also a €100 cash-back deal for signing up though the Bonkers.ie website (although, due to the Regulator's rules, they're not allowed advertise this crazy, right?).
Anyhow, it's always good to compare. While this offer is very attractive, just bear in mind that not everybody will benefit from bundling their gas and electricity together. It maybe cheaper for you to use two separate suppliers, so a cost comparison using your own data is advisable. Separately, I'm about to start testing the new 'Hive' metering app from BGE, so I'll let you know how I get on. Bord Gais Energy
