Comparing the costs of electricity and gas charges is so complex that late last year the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) announced it would give accreditation to comparison sites that complied with their rigorous standards.
So step forward bonkers.ie, Ireland's first comparison site to be accredited by the CER.
It means that they are an independent, impartial and accurate source of price information. And it may be time for you to use the site and switch again.
From the start of this month, Airtricity's standing charges went up. Also, if you signed up to Electric Ireland's SuperSaver deal between April and August last year, it has reverted to standard rates, so you should start shopping around. If you don't, your bill will rise by 17pc for electricity and 5pc for gas, according to bonkers.ie.
