The Eircom Spider Awards are now 16 years old. Although that’s nearly as old as the Internet itself, the venerable Golden Spiders remain hugely relevant to the Irish Internet community.

The Spiders have consistently recognized excellence in existing enterprises, and innovation and potential from newcomers. Over the years, awards have been presented to organizations that have gone on to become household names like entertainment.ie, RaboDirect.ie and Hostelworld.com.

This year, bonkers.ie has been shortlisted in both the Financial Services and E-Business categories, and of course competition in both groups is incredibly tough. Nominees for the E-Business award include BoardsDeals and cartell.ie, and the Financial Services category has big names like RaboDirect, KBC Bank and Bank of Ireland. We feel honoured to be counted amongst such esteemed competition.

It’s been quite a year at bonkers.ie. We’ve added new services and comparisons, improved existing ones and even launched our very own community boards. We’re totally dedicated to providing the best user experience that we can and really appreciate all the feedback we’ve received over the last 12 months.

People who’ve used bonkers.ie have told us that they like what we’re doing, and it’s exactly because people keep coming back that we are able keep moving forward and making the service better and better.

We’re incredibly pleased to have reached the final stage of the Eircom Spider Awards and are really looking forward to the ceremony on the 10th November. We want to wish the best of luck to all the nominees, and of course, you can be sure we’ll let you know if we win a Golden Spider ourselves!
