Closing days for cashback energy deals

Cashback offers of up to €55 are currently available for new energy customers – but most are set to expire this weekend.

Customers looking to lock in better deals as the cold weather sets in typically make this the busiest time of year for energy switches. And recognising that cash of is king, Ireland’s leading energy providers are currently offering cashback incentives of between €20 and €55 to new customers that sign up to discounted energy deals in time for winter.

These cashback offers generally work as bills credits on your first bill. So if you sign up now, when your first bill arrives from your new provider, you should see a credit of up to €55 on that bill.

And of course a Christmas energy bill is not the kind of gift most people look forward to receiving! Especially as it can be the biggest of the year and comes at the time when cash it at its tightest. So these cashback incentives offer a silver lining that could help ease some of the pressure on post-Christmas budgets.

As if cashback offers were not enough, there are also free Climote Remote Heating Controllers, free boiler services and soon Electric Ireland will be offering free Nest Learning Thermostats too.

As it’s almost unprecedented in the Irish energy market to have so may offers available at one time, I’ll list them out in no particular order below:

Electric Ireland

  • €50 cashback for new dual-fuel signups – ends 16th November.
  • €50 cashback for new electricity only signups – ends 16th November.
  • These cashback offers are available with Electric Ireland’s best discount deals which require e-billing, payment by direct debit and 1 year contract. Should appear as credit on first or second bill after signup.
  • Free Climote Remote Heating Controller – available on 2 year contract with Electric Ireland Standard dual fuel price plan only – no end date.

Energia

  • €50 cashback for new dual-fuel signups – ends 16th November.
  • €20 cashback for new electricity only signups – ends 16th November.
  • These cashback offers are available with Energia’s best discount deals which require e-billing, payment by direct debit and 1 year contract. Should appear as credit on first bill after Christmas.

SSE Airtricity

  • €55 cashback for new dual-fuel signups – ends 30th November.
  • €55 cashback for new electricity only signups – ends 30th November.
  • These cashback offers are available with SSE Airtricity’s best discount deals which require e-billing, payment by direct debit and 1 year contract. Should appear as credit on first bill after signup.
  • Free Climote Remote Heating Controller available for bonkers.ie signups on SSE Airtricity’s best dual fuel deal and can be combined with the €55 cashback offer – offer now closed.

Bord Gáis Energy

  • Free boiler service - ends 16th November.
  • Customers signing up to Bord Gáis Energy’s 8% gas discount tariff can get a free boiler service. Bord Gáis Energy will contact new customers once they have signed up.
  • This offer is not currently available through bonkers.ie.

Of course, the real benefit of signing up to a new discounted energy deal is saving money. And it’s a good time to do that too. Suppliers are currently offering discounts of up to 20% off their standard unit rates in what has been called an “energy price war”. What that means to energy customers is a top saving of €311 per year for an average household with gas and electricity. Add in €50 cashback and those savings increase to more than €360. And with Electric Ireland’s electricity price cut set to take effect next week offering further savings, it’s not a bad time to be in the market for a new energy deal.

You can compare and switch to all of these deals through bonkers.ie from the link below.
