8 great stand-up specials to watch on Netflix this Christmas that you mightn't have seen

It’s not just price plans we compare on your behalf. So in the run up to Christmas we're going to take a look at Netflix and make some suggestions about what to watch at home, when you want to have a festive giggle.

Christmas is, and always should, be a time for laughter and there's no better way to have a great chuckle than with a good comedian. So here at bonkers.ie we're going to take a few minutes away from finding you the best deals and pick some of our favourite things from the streaming service.

Here are some great stand-up specials you mightn’t have gotten around to seeing yet…

Adam Sandler: 100% Fresh

I know what you are thinking, you are saying to yourself: “The fella who made Grown Ups 2 and Jack and Gill, is the first suggestion?!” Yes, yes he is, and there is a good reason. Sandler has put out a lot of bad films but once upon a time he was a very popular performer and purveyor of the asinine. He told stupid jokes and sang silly songs and he was actually funny.

Granted his humour is silly, 100% Fresh is the sort of special that you can throw on and not be challenged, and laugh at the silly things, like we did when Sandler was doing the stand-up circuit the first time around.

Ali Wong: Baby Cobra

There really isn’t a lot you can say about Ali Wong that she hasn’t said funnier, cleverer, and more ruthlessly. So I wont bother.

Greg Davies: You Magnificent Beast

The special starts at a breakneck speed, launching directly after a joke that ‘can’t be broadcast.’ And it doesn’t stop. Davies' special will have you roaring.

Hans Teeuwen: Real Rancour

If you haven’t heard of the Dutch absurdist Hans Teeuwen, then you might not like his style. However, if you love absurdist humour Hans is your man.

James Acaster: Repertoire

James Acaster famously got into a cabbage-based dispute with a young man who was a son of a friend, if that doesn’t tell you everything you need to know about his humour I don’t know what will.

John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous

He may look and sound like the whitest man in America, but John Mulaney is a skilled comedian, who isn’t as lily white as he looks

Kid Gorgeous doesn't have a trailer on YouTube, so here's a clip from his previous outing.

Neal Brennan: 3 Mics

You might not recognise him, but Neal Brennan was one of the creative forces behind the legendary Chapelle Show. Now he has turned his hand to stand-up and his special weaves three narratives seamlessly into one great show.

Richard Pryor: Live in Concert

Finally the king of stand-up himself Richard Prior. This special makes the list for the sheer number of people who still have not seen this man in concert, proving himself as one of the funniest men who ever lived. This clip from his appearance at the sunset strip should give you a taste.

So what do you think?
