It’s not just price plans we compare on your behalf. So in the run up to Christmas we're going to take a look at Netflix and make some suggestions about what to watch at home, when you feel like binging on something other than food or drink!

We don’t know about you but one of our favourite things at Christmas is the TV. So here at bonkers.ie we're going to take a few minutes away from finding you the best deals and pick some of our favourite things from the streaming service.

Here are some great TV shows and movies you might not have gotten around to seeing yet…

TV Shows

Episodes

You've just won an award for your hit TV show, and they want to fly you out to LA and put you up in a mansion, while they make an American version of your show. It might sound like a dream, but this witty comedy shows how it might just be a nightmare.

Money Heist

If you saw a bunch of Spaniards wandering around at Halloween in red jumpsuits, it's because of this show. Eight thieves take hostages and lock themselves in the mint of Spain while a mastermind manipulates the police to carry out his master plan.

Pine Gap

Set in the US intelligence base in the heart of Australia's outback, this drama takes a look at international politics Down Under as both China and the US battle over the strategic location.

Seven Seconds

After a 15-year-old boy is found dead in Jersey City, it hints at an underlying police conspiracy and then follows the search for truth.

The Thick of It

If you're a fan of Veep, or The Death of Stalin, you simply have to see Armando Iannucci’s magnum opus. Set inside parliamentary politics in London, Iannucci paints a picture of politicians as they probably are in real life; incompetent bumbling idiots.

The Trip

Two British comedians go for dinner in a series of nice restaurants, tell jokes and do impressions. The format sounds simple but the nuance and drama is the really compelling thing about this show from Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon.

Movies

Bad day for the cut

A mild-mannered farmer goes on a journey of revenge in this vengeance thriller set in and around Belfast.

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb

Christmas is one of the best times of the year to watch old films, and this classic is never far from the top of our list. In this war satire, Peter Sellers plays three of the best roles of his life. If you haven’t seen it yet, now is your chance.

The Fundamentals of Caring

It can be difficult to strike a good balance of irreverent humour, and sincerity, but this coming of age dramedy makes a good attempt.

Gone Baby Gone

It’s unfortunate time of release meant that Ben Affleck’s directorial debut wasn’t the blockbuster Miramax was hoping for. However Affleck proved a master craftsman right from the off in this thriller set in his oft-favoured south Boston.

The Game

Even fans of David Fincher forget that he made this film from time to time, but this thriller starring Michael Douglas is an underrated film, from one of the masters of the genre.

Network

Another classic for you to brush up on here, with this satire on the news business. Hard to believe this film was made in the 70’s and still remains so relevant. If you're sick of sensationalist news this film will have you shouting: “I’m mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore.”

Warrior

Incredible direction from Gavin O’Connor, stellar performances by Nick Nolte, Tom Hardy, and Joel Edgerton, it’s hard to understand why everyone hasn’t seen this film. We suspect it is because people probably see it as a film about cage fighting, rather than the character piece about brotherhood, betrayal, and grief it really is.
