Yowza! That's what I thought when the short lists for the eircom spiders were announced yesterday. bonkers.ie has been nominated and then short listed for 2 of the most hotly contested categories - Best Financial Services Website and Best User Experience. Pretty cool stuff and we're completely thrilled here at Bonkers Towers.
The eircom spiders awards is an annual event which has been running since 1996 - yes 1996 - that's 16 years! The glitzy black-tie event will be held on Thursday November 1st and will be hosted this year by the fantastic Des Bishop. In the running with bonkers.ie are some incredibly hard hitters including banks and insurance companies. We're now just two-and-a-half years old so we're extremely proud to be in their company - and we won the Best Financial Services gong last year, so who knows :-)
The eircom spiders being on November 1st is proving a bit of a challenge for us here though - you see there's another awards ceremony being held that night at the Mansion House - the Realex WebAwards - under the tagline "fall in love with the web again".
The Realex WebAwards is also a glitzy event - hosted by the brilliant 2FM DJ Rick O'Shea - and bonkers.ie has been short-listed for 2 categories also - Best Financial Services Website and Best Practice in the Technology section of the awards. I'm not sure how we'll handle being in two locations at the same time yet, but it's a problem we're hugely proud to have :-)
Best of luck to all well deserving short-listees at both of these events - November 1st sure will be a night to remember !
Update 18th October 2012
The WebAwards have gone through another round of judging and have just released their Finalist list
bonkers.ie has successfully come through this 3rd round of judging, being judged again by 7/8 judges and we're delighted have now reached the Finalist list for both categories we were shortlisted in - Best Financial Services Website and Best Practice in Technology :-)
