Revolut customers can now avail of a three-month free trial of Revolut Premium. The Premium account comes with great travel-related perks for those looking to go abroad as international travel reopens.

Despite summer soon drawing to a close, many of us are only planning holidays abroad now as the world reopens post-pandemic.

Whether it’s a European city break or a holiday in the sun, we’re all itching to travel safely again.

To mark the return to international travel, digital bank Revolut is offering customers a three-month free trial of its Revolut Premium account for a limited time only. The Premium account usually costs €7.99 a month and comes with a broad range of benefits, which will be of particular interest to those eager to travel.

If you’re planning a trip abroad, then signing up for the free trial is worth considering. Here’s an outline of what’s on offer!

What does Revolut Premium offer for those looking to travel?

If you’re keen to start travelling again, Revolut Premium offers a wide array of travel-related benefits:

  • Premium account customers can withdraw up to €400 each month for fee-free from international ATMs, as opposed to just €200 for Standard account holders. After this €400 limit is reached, Revolut charges €1 or 2% commission, whichever is higher.
  • Premium customers can spend, exchange and transfer unlimited amounts of money with the interbank exchange rate. With the standard account there's a €1,000 limit on non-euro card spending before fees kick in, for example.
  • Customers can avail of free overseas medical insurance, which covers emergency medical and dental treatment.
  • There’s also worldwide travel insurance on offer, which includes compensation for delayed flights and luggage, and is paid directly into your Revolut account.
  • With SmartDelay, if your flight is delayed by more than one hour, Revolut will send free airport lounge passes for you and a friend.

Revolut also recently introduced a new feature for booking accommodation called Stays, which allows customers to book accommodation and get up to 10% instant cashback. For standard account holders the cashback is capped at 7.5%.

Additional benefits

Even if you’re not planning on travelling abroad anytime soon, there’s still a plethora of additional features and benefits to Revolut Premium.

With restrictions easing and more events taking place, it’s reassuring to have peace of mind should you need to cancel an event booking. Premium account customers can take advantage of Revolut’s ticket cancellation feature. If something unexpected happens outside of your control that means you miss an event, Revolut will reimburse your tickets up to €1,000.

Revolut’s purchase protection covers Premium customers up to €2,500 if eligible purchases are accidentally damaged or stolen, for a whole year.

And with Revolut’s return protection policy, Premium account customers can get refunded for items between €50 and €300 up to 90 days post-purchase, if the retailer won't take them back.

Along with the above perks, all day-to-day banking is free. This means there are no additional charges for direct debits, standing orders, chip and pin or contactless payments.

Digital banks are becoming increasingly popular, with Revolut and N26 being the top two favourites among consumers.

Limited time only

Anyone can sign up for the three-month trial of Revolut’s Premium account but you most do so before Friday 27th August. And you can cancel for free at any time before the three months is up.

Once activated, you can order a Premium card, but if you switch back to your current plan during the trial period, you’ll be charged for the card.

After the trial period, you’ll automatically be charged the regular Premium subscription fee of €7.99 per month.

Is it worth it?

At €7.99 a month the Premium account might seem expensive at first, especially if you’re used to Revolut’s free Standard account. However, once you take into consideration the free comprehensive travel insurance and the unlimited foreign exchange, it works out as great value for money.

If you know you’ll be travelling regularly, the Revolut Premium account is definitely worthwhile as it offers a host of convenient features.
