Electric Savings

Thursday April 07 2011

One million households have switched energy provider in the last year but it may be time to review your situation again because competition in the market has just got hotter.

ESB Electric Ireland announced their new tariffs for electricity and gas on Monday, now that their prices are no longer controlled by the Energy Regulator.

They are now offering the cheapest electricity currently available, at between 14% and 17% less than their standard tariff.

However, if you use electricity and gas, their SuperSaver dual fuel tariff, offering a 6% gas discount, isn't currently the cheapest bet, according to comparison website bonkers.ie.

Instead they say you would make the greatest savings by taking ESB Electric Ireland's SuperSaver deal for electricity only and Flogas's New Customer Option B for gas.

However, the other providers are bound to come out with new offers soon, so you might do well to bide your time and watch this space.
