bonkers.ie, Ireland’s longest continually Accredited energy price comparison service, achieves third Accreditation from the Commission for Energy Regulation.

CER Accreditation is designed to give users of energy price comparison services peace of mind that the results they see are accurate, impartial and independent. CER Accreditation also provides an extra layer of trust for consumers allowing them to switch energy suppliers with confidence.

The Commission for Energy Regulation’s Accreditation has been awarded to bonkers.ie for the third time after a rigorous independent audit which ensured that our energy price comparison service continues to meet strict standards of independence, accuracy and impartiality.

bonkers.ie was the first energy price comparison and switching service in Ireland to achieve CER Accreditation and has maintained continuous Accreditation since March 2012.

Commenting today, bonkers.ie Managing Director David Kerr said: “We are very pleased that the Commission for Energy Regulation has confirmed our Accreditation. We take CER Accreditation extremely seriously as it confirms our commitment to provide accurate and independent comparisons that Irish consumers can trust”.

Accreditation to the CER’s Framework for Price Comparison Websites requires energy price comparison providers to adhere to eleven principles that have consumer protection at their core.

Some of principles that price comparison websites must adhere to include:

Independence and impartiality - meaning that the website must not be owned by or affiliated with any energy supplier. In addition, the information contained throughout the website must be objective and unbiased.

Tariff and price comparison accuracy – meaning that the results yielded by price comparisons must be accurate, up to date and easily comparable.

Calculation of Cost Comparisons - this principle sets out clear rules in relation to the components which are allowed to be included in price comparisons. It’s about clearly showing customers what they will pay, and therefore excludes certain types of special offers and signup incentives when calculating savings.

Accuracy and Tariff Updating – the purpose of this principle is to ensure that the information accessed by consumers is as up to date and accurate as possible.

bonkers.ie is completely Irish owned. The company was founded in 2010 by Irishmen David Kerr and Simon Moynihan who have almost 20 years' experience between them in the price comparison space. bonkers.ie is committed to providing users with the best experience and most accurate information of any price comparison service operating in Ireland.
