bonkers.ie was the first energy price comparison service in Ireland to be awarded accreditation by Ireland’s independent energy regulator, the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU).
You will need three key pieces of information to set up your gas and electricity:
Recent meter reading: Taking a meter reading is very easy. Simply locate your meters for gas and electricity (there will be a separate one for each utility), read the number on the dial from left to right and ignore any digits in red. Simple!
MPRN GPRN: Your MPRN is an 11 digit meter point reference number for your electricity and your GPRN is a seven digit gas point reference number. You can find out what both of these numbers are by calling ESB Networks and Gas Networks Ireland respectively.
Once you have the information stated above to hand, head over to bonkers.ie and click onto the energy price comparison page. Key in your information and you’ll be shown a list of the energy deals available on the market, across all of Ireland’s ten suppliers.
You’ll be able to compare on price, review special introductory discounts, cashback incentives as well as each individual supplier’s detailed fuel mixes, unit prices rates and standing charges.
